The Judean Hills
We will spend today in the outskirts of Jerusalem.
We will travel to Beit Guvrin, or Tel Maresha. On our way there, we will see the spot where the most famous biblical battle took place between David and Goliath. At Beit Guvrin you will discover caves and water cisterns that date as far back as the 3rd Century BCE. We’ll have the opportunity to walk through a labyrinth of underground caves from the Hasmonean period, a fascinating and fun place for the entire family.
Visit one of the oldest areas of wine making history around the "Haela valley" where we will check out some of the boutique wineries and breweries.
This part of the day we'll dedicate to study about the war of Independence. Visit "Yad La'shryon" – The Armored Corps Memorial Site and Museum in Latrun. This is official memorial site for fallen soldiers from the armored corps, as well as one of the most diverse tank museums in the world.
Lunch on own at Abu Gosh – great place for Hummus
We will have a Jeep ride on the Burma Road, the makeshift bypass road between the general vicinity of Kibbutz Hulda and Jerusalem that was built by Israeli forces headed by General Mickey Marcus during the 1948 Siege of Jerusalem to save the residents of Jerusalem from starvation.
